A new normative instruction signed by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) is set to change the dynamics of producing nectars (25-99% juice), as it will require a gradual increase in the fruit content of the final product. For instance, orange and grape nectars will have to contain at least 40% of their respective fruit from January 2015 and 50% from January 2016 onwards. At present the regulation requires a minimum amount of 30% or 20% in the case of acid fruit or vegetables.
